National First-of-Its-Kind: Changlan Technology Supports China’s 66kV Offshore Wind Submarine Cable System

We are proud to share that the 66kV Offshore Wind Array Submarine Cable System, jointly developed by China Three Gorges Corporation, Ningbo Orient Cable, Wanhua Chemical and Changlan Technology, has been selected for the proposed 6th National First-of-Its-Kind Major Energy Technology Equipment List issued by China’s National Energy Administration.
The system has already been successfully deployed at the Yangjiang Qingzhou VII Offshore Wind Farm.
As a core technology partner, Changlan undertook the development of key cable accessories for this system, including:
▪ 66kV separable connectors for reliable electrical connection and convenient offshore maintenance
▪ Screened plug-in surge arresters for protection against lightning and switching overvoltages
Designed for demanding offshore conditions including high humidity, salt fog and mechanical stress, these products form critical links in the reliability and protection of the 66kV array cable system.
This is not Changlan’s first national-level breakthrough.
In 2021, the 500kV DC land cable system involving Changlan was also recognized as a National First-of-Its-Kind Major Energy Technology Equipment project and applied in the Zhangbei Flexible DC Transmission Demonstration Project.
From 500kV DC transmission to 66kV offshore wind collection systems, Changlan continues to push the boundaries of high-end cable accessory technology.
Nearly 70 years in cable accessories — and still moving forward.
